Oh God!! Its a girl

I read a article in the news paper recently.. I Also saw an ad in the TV one day on the same topic.I was hurt when i realised that even today there are people in my country who consider the birth of a girl child in the family a burden, a liability.

A mother's womb is one of the safest places designed by the nature. But today it is not.Technology is so advanced today, that we have means of knowing if the child is a girl or a boy before birth. People spend thousands just to know this. The sad part is they throw in more cash, just to get the child aborted 'if its a girl'.

Indian culture has gone through many changes since centuries. Many practises (like sati system, child marriage) have been eliminated. But why is it that such a practise still prevails in our society. Why can't the authorities take some action against this crime.Something has to be done to stop this.

A serious issue indeed..really Pathetic..On the contrary, in US ppl prefer gir child to boy child.

Hi Sweta,

Beautiful blog. :-)..............

Big congrats on getting placed. Now you can happily enjoy the remaining one year :-)...........................

You are so right about the girl child problem...... But you would also have seen that this is not a problem in our kochu Keralam. Why? Yes, education does make it better. But much more than that you would see that we humans are slaves to imitation. We do what our neighbour, our relative, our friends and the society does. And in Kerala we respect the girl child, must be from the years of the matriarchial culture, to the poing that nowadays we even feel that girls do better that even boys. And the trend is just followed. So I think what need to be done is to set an example and people will follow it. Its slowly happening. It will take time, but it will finally become allright.

Hostel life, my o my, its a total dhamaka lol.........

Racism, castism, etc etc, this is a very very delicate topic. There is a root cause to this whole problem. Its because of 'US'. We relate everything in the world with respect to 'us', the 'I', 'ME'. It starts of as 'My' family, 'My' mother, 'My' language, 'My' country etc, etc...... If we have to really be free from this problem, this 'me', 'i' thing should be erased from our mind. Hope you realise the near imposibility of that problem. We are sort of helpless......

Pragmatically, from pure experience what I have learnt is that, just like I was telling about the girl child problem, is to set an example. When people see that making such categorisations is 'our-of-fashion', they will slowly change. Thus we can atleast avoid the large scale problems like those we see in Israel or Gujarat or Bihar.........

Discovering Hanuman ji, that was so very very sweet.........

Made some great reading.......

Life is indeed beautiful. Keep blogging..........

Cheers :-).................

Well,as i see it, its not in the water atleast. The very feeling of not-to-have-a-female child is the main product of reaction between the male-supporting social systems as well as inflation( quoting Unemployment would mean the same thing as both refer to commercial inadequacies ).Quoting education to be something that could bring this down, would be fair to a great extent but again, it does not solve the whole of problem because education itself is another problem in India.Even the big names as IITs n IIMs do not impart education~~ they merely supply raw materials for Foreign markets. The topic which you have raised does need loads of attention and am sure with youngsters as you around, things would change.
PS Note: Blogrolling you,if you dont mind
